Tyga has the internet asking: Is he borrowing a page from Tory Lanez‘s playbook?
Tyga probably expected people to talk about the music. Instead, they’re talking about somebody else entirely. His new $TARFACE rollout has opened the floodgates to a debate that has Tory Lanez’s name all up in the water.
These shimmering synths, nostalgic vibes and 1980s-inspired production sounds awfully familiar. And yes, Tory Lanez’s name keeps coming up. Of course there’s the new(er) guy, Fenix Flexin, but he’s more of a comrade.
Synthwave has become one of the hottest sonic trends in music over the last several years. Everybody from The Weeknd to Dua Lipa has tapped into that nostalgic sound. But Tory was one of the first rappers to fully embrace that lane – like five summers ago! He successfully blended R&B, rap and neon production aka his “Fargo” sound.
That is why Tyga’s latest evolution immediately sparked debate online. His new single “Gave U Racks” and the entire $TARFACE concept have led some folks to accuse him of taking creative cues from Tory. Take a listen:
I like this crap. I am going to add it to a new playlist of rappers-turned-80s singers.
Ironically, Tyga and Tory are hardly strangers. They have worked together before. Tory even recruited Tyga for “Broke Leg.” There is no beef here. Fans are chiming in!
In fact, one of their funniest connections had nothing to do with music. Back in 2019, Tory openly thanked Tyga for sharing the secret behind his hair restoration. Tory jokingly promised Tyga unlimited guest features for life off that. Hilarious!
So is Tyga copying Tory Lanez? Who cares! Tory is locked away and Tyga is pushing a million views in a day. Get what you can.
By the way, here’s Tory’s project:
I might have to get into this some more.

How ya’ll like my fit?
