Tone Loc Returns With Animated Project & Son’s New Single After Health Scare

Tone Loc is stepping back into animation after nearly three decades away, and this time he’s bringing his son along for the ride.

The legendary rapper just announced he’s voicing a character named Loco, an English bulldog navigating life on TikTok while searching for a loving owner who can give him a real home.

This marks his first solo project since “C-Bear and Jamal” aired on Fox Kids back in 1996 and 1997, making this comeback feel like a full-circle moment for someone who’s been everywhere in entertainment.

The rap star is also collaborating with his oldest son, Bijan, on an upcoming single called “How Was I Supposed To Know,” which Bijan produced entirely with AI.

“I was really impressed when I heard the track,” Tone Loc said. “It’s something that I would want to listen to on the radio or when I’m just chilling at the crib relaxing.”

Before this new venture, Tone Loc made headlines when he was hospitalized in Atlanta this past February after a medical emergency struck while he was traveling to serve as Grand Marshal at a Dothan parade.

Since 1995, he’s dealt with multiple on-stage collapses linked to seizures and exhaustion, including a notable incident during a 2013 performance in Iowa that left him gasping for air.

Those moments reminded everyone that even legends face real struggles behind the scenes.

Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Tone Loc dominated the charts with “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina,” the latter earning him a Grammy nomination.

His debut album Loc-ed After Dark made history in 1989 as the first rap LP by a Black artist to reach number one on the Billboard 200.

Beyond music, he’s built an impressive acting resume that includes roles in “Heat,” “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Blank Check,” and “Posse,” plus voice work in “FernGully: The Last Rainforest and Bebe’s Kids.”

The project represents a shift in focus for an artist who’s spent most of his time touring venues across the country.

“I spend most of my time on the road doing shows in venues,” he explained. “The fans have been asking so I’m finally focused on releasing new content, and I’m looking forward to debuting my son’s new track soon.”
