Barbados is looking especially good for Labor Day this year. JetBlue is flying nonstop from New York to Barbados, and American Airlines is serving the island from both New York and Miami, giving travelers in two of the Caribbean’s biggest U.S. gateways several ways to turn the holiday into a long weekend.
Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, so a Friday-to-Monday trip gives you three nights on the island. Add Thursday or Tuesday and you have enough time for a longer stay.
The hotel choices cover nearly every kind of Barbados trip, from all-inclusive resorts on the South Coast to small historic hotels, new boutique properties and one of the Caribbean’s signature luxury resorts.
Here are 10 places we’d look at for Labor Day weekend, curated by our editors.

Rooms range from standard categories to larger two-bedroom suites, and the resort’s Luxury Collection includes upgraded oceanfront accommodations.
There are several restaurants and bars across the property, along with activities geared toward both couples and families.
Oistins and St. Lawrence Gap are both close, so you can leave the resort easily during the weekend.
Families should take a close look at Sea Breeze because the larger rooms and all-inclusive format make a short trip easier to plan.
