Kim Kardashian Loses Court Battle to Keep Ray J Sex Tape Settlement Secret

Kim Kardashian and her mother just got a reality check from the courts.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge rejected their attempt to keep a 2023 settlement agreement with Ray J sealed from public view, according to TMZ.

The ruling means unredacted documents related to their secret deal are now headed for public disclosure.

The legal battle traces back to October 2025, when Kim and Kris Jenner sued Ray J for defamation, claiming he falsely stated they were under federal investigation and worse than convicted mogul Diddy.

Ray J fired back with his own countersuit, alleging the mother-daughter duo violated their confidential 2023 agreement by discussing the infamous sex tape during an episode of their Hulu series.

He claims he received $6 million to maintain permanent silence about the tape.

Kim and Kris’ legal team argued that the settlement contained “highly sensitive matters” that required confidentiality to protect their families.

Their lawyers submitted court filings requesting that the documents stay sealed, emphasizing the private nature of the agreement. The judge wasn’t convinced.

The court determined that they failed to present sufficient evidence to demonstrate that public disclosure would cause them actual harm.

Ray J opposed the sealing request, and the judge sided with him completely.

The ruling mandates that Kim and Kris file unredacted versions of the entire settlement.

This development represents a significant legal loss for the Kardashian family, who’ve historically maintained tight control over their public narrative and private dealings.
