DAVIE, Fla. — Jamaican tenor and entertainer Steve Higgins will launch the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center’s 2026–27 season with Moonlight, Memories & Music. This one-night-only concert is set for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 8 p.m.
Presented by the Miniaci Performing Arts Center and Steve Higgins Productions, the evening will pair Higgins with vocalists Dahlia Wynter and April Marr. Their program is designed to move between classic standards, theatrical favorites and Caribbean musical heritage.
Moonlight, Memories & Music is billed as a sweeping musical journey through jazz, Broadway and musical-theater favorites, Sinatra-style ballads, Italian classics and Jamaican songs. These are inspired by the enduring spirit of Harry Belafonte. Additionally, the production will blend vocal performance, storytelling, humor and audience engagement in an intimate concert format.
For Higgins, the date marks another high-profile South Florida appearance in a career that has taken him across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean over more than 25 years. His repertoire spans sacred and classical works, Broadway, jazz, romantic ballads and traditional Jamaican folk music.
“My passion has always been to interpret music properly, soundly and positively,” Higgins said during a 2024 telephone interview with the Jamaica Observer.
Steve Higgins’ Musical Journey
A former member of the internationally acclaimed Jamaican Folk Singers, Steve Higgins spent more than two decades with the ensemble under the direction of noted Jamaican folklorist and ethnomusicologist Dr. Olive Lewin.
He later founded the South Florida Caribbean Chorale. In this way, he extended his work as a cultural ambassador for Jamaican music and performance traditions.
His credits include performances at Westminster Abbey in London. He has appeared at international festivals and concerts across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, and Asia. His recordings include Sacred, All for You, Dis Long Time and Echoes of Jamaica.
Wynter brings a background in musical theater and vocal performance, while Marr’s repertoire spans jazz, R&B, ballads, show tunes and sacred music. Together, the trio will frame the concert as a celebration of romance, nostalgia and the cross-cultural power of song.
VIP meet-and-greet packages are available. They include premium seating in the first three rows. In addition, it includes an onstage photo with Higgins after the show. Merchandise giveaways are included too.
