D4vd faced prosecutors laying out a forensic roadmap of his alleged crime during the second day of his preliminary hearing, with evidence suggesting his Hollywood Hills garage became a crime scene.
The 21-year-old R&B singer sat expressionless as LAPD criminalist Lauren Wallace testified about what investigators discovered when they processed the rental property where he allegedly dismembered 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Wallace described black rubber interlocking mats covering the garage floor with seven linear cuts consistent with repeated use of a sharp object.
When forensic teams ran BLUESTAR tests to detect blood, the mats lit up positive.
Additional testing revealed possible blood near his Tesla charger and rowing machine, according to testimony presented in court.
A stained trash bag also tested positive for possible blood, while a green tarp with red stains sat among other items including disinfectant wipes and two chainsaws.
The evidence painted a picture of deliberate cleanup efforts. An inflatable pool in the garage had an unusual smell and contained a rolled dryer sheet.
When prosecutors asked if investigators had located the specific Makita 10-inch chainsaw D4vd allegedly ordered through Postmates on May 4, 2025, Wallace said they hadn’t found it.
The missing tool became significant because prosecutors claim he used it to dismember Celeste’s body after stabbing her to death.

D4vd’s defense team maintains he didn’t murder Celeste and wasn’t responsible for her death, but prosecutors are building a case around financial motive.
According to DA Nathan Hochman, D4vd killed Celeste to protect his lucrative music career, which she threatened by being a key witness in a sexual abuse investigation.
The special circumstances allegations include lying in wait and murdering a witness, which can increase sentencing penalties significantly.
If convicted as charged on first-degree murder with special circumstances, sexual abuse of a child, and unlawful mutilation of human remains, D4vd faces either life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Celeste’s dismembered remains were discovered in the front trunk of his Tesla in September 2025, months after her death in May.
Prosecutors have indicated they’re pursuing capital punishment, making this one of the most serious cases involving a young artist in recent memory.
