The Game just tossed Drake into the middle of West Coast politics, but I do not think he had to force him. In fact, I think this is what Drizzy wants. Their new song “No Brakes” sounds like yet another call to action.
A new collaboration between the Compton rapper and Drake has surfaced, apparently titled “No Brakes.” Several people on social media launched the song into the atmosphere. And now we analyze it.
The record definitely sounds aggressive. But one particular sequence has people wondering whether Game is declaring his allegiance in the ongoing Drake versus Kendrick Lamar universe.
“Me, Drake and Drake we the three amigos.”
That line immediately got my attention. However, there is some confusion about the exact wording. Another report transcribes the lyric as, “Me, Drake and a Drac…we the Three Amigos!” Then there is the Drac, as in Draco. So until the actual record arrives with official lyrics, I am keeping a little question mark beside that one.
But then Game apparently follows it with this:
“If I have to pick a side, then I’m picking homicide.”
Now, wait a minute, padre.
Nobody has officially said this is about Kendrick Lamar, but come on. Game is from Compton. Kendrick is from Compton. The whole pop-out thing. The private jet sent to get The Game recently. Drake and Kendrick had the biggest battle in history. And now Game is standing next to Drake on a record talking about picking sides?
People are going to connect those dots like a Kwame shirt.
The preview is already getting strong reactions online, including listeners debating whether this represents Game planting a flag beside Drake. We are waiting for the complete version.
And remember, Game and Drake are not strangers. They previously connected on “100,” so this alliance did not materialize yesterday. They may just want to get it poppin’, bros.
“No Brakes” is an interesting title.
Because if Game really is choosing Drake while standing on West Coast soil, brakes might be exactly what everybody needs.
