Kevin Hart believes his beloved Philadelphia Eagles belong in the Super Bowl conversation again.
But the comedian and lifelong Eagles supporter says another championship push won’t simply come down to talent. It will come down to trust.
Speaking with AllHipHop‘s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur – a fellow staunch Eagles fan – while promoting his new film 72 Hours, Hart said Philadelphia’s offseason gave him reason for optimism. Still, he believes the offense will ultimately rise or fall with quarterback Jalen Hurts and his willingness to attack defenses through the air.
“I think that right now we made some really creative moves in the offseason,” Hart told AllHipHop.
Hart then pointed directly to the passing game as the factor that separates the Eagles from every other contender.
“Okay. You know, I think it’s all about our confidence and ability to throw the ball. When we throw the ball and we are confident about putting the ball in the air, regardless of the consequence, we’re a different team. We’re confident team. So, I think it’s going to all be about, you know, Jalen Hurts and his comfort with our receiving core and that offensive line.”
It’s a sentiment shared by many heading into the new season.
The Eagles enter training camp with expectations of remaining among the NFL’s elite after another successful campaign under head coach Nick Sirianni. Philadelphia still boasts one of football’s strongest foundations with Hurts leading the offense behind an elite offensive line anchored by Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens.
Hurts also enters another season adapting to yet another new offensive coordinator with Sean Mannion takes over the offense. Early reports suggest Hurts and Mannion have already developed strong chemistry as they install an offense expected to feature more wrinkles than previous versions.
National analysts continue to place Philadelphia among the favorites to capture the NFC East, although questions remain. Even so, most projections still view the Eagles as legitimate contenders because of their veteran leadership, defensive talent and one of the league’s deepest rosters.
Hart’s view echoes what sports analysts have been discussing throughout the offseason. If Hurts quickly settles into Mannion’s system, Philadelphia’s offense could once again rank among the NFL’s most dangerous.
Even with Saquon Barkley in the backfield, Hart believes the formula isn’t complicated. Throw the football with conviction.
