MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 54-year-old man was taken into police custody following a deadly dispute with another man at a machine shop in Abbey Gardens near Mandeville on Tuesday night.

Detectives probing the homicide say they have not yet ascertained the identity of the man who died.

Preliminary reports are that about 7:45 pm the men had an argument when a machete was brandished by one of them. Police said the other man told detectives that he held onto his machete-wielding attacker from behind and during a tussle that man fell to the ground and became unresponsive.

The unresponsive man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
