1000Milan is dragging one of Kendrick Lamar’s most celebrated records into federal court, demanding recognition for what he calls his own work on “m.A.A.d city.”
The Miami rapper, whose legal name is Milan Brewer, sued the song’s co-producer AXLFOLIE over credit and cash.
The lawsuit centers on “Ridin Rollercoaster,” a song 1000Milan wrote and recorded back in April 2012. Sample-tracking sites had flagged the vocal match years before any lawyers ever got involved in the dispute.
Court filings say AXLFOLIE and partner Ricci Riera folded 1000Milan’s vocals and lyrics into the record that became Lamar’s “m.A.A.d city,” featuring MC Eiht.
1000Milan’s team says AXLFOLIE never flatly denied the ownership claim until an April 16, 2026 phone call with an attorney representing Riera.
A follow-up email attached to the filing reads: “Leon, following up again. You indicated you would provide me with the existing splits on ‘M.a.a.d. City.’ Can I still expect to receive that? Alternatively, are you authorized to accept service on behalf of Messrs. Riera and/or Morgan?”
1000Milan wants joint authorship credit and a full accounting of the royalties. The suit specifically asks for a declaration that he is entitled “by virtue of his status as a joint author of the Work, to receive the same writing credit that Defendant Morgan received in connection with ‘m.A.A.d city.’”
AXLFOLIE’s own production website lists “m.A.A.d city” among his platinum credits, right alongside work for Drake and Nipsey Hussle.
Lamar and MC Eiht are not named as defendants in the case, and the suit accuses only AXLFOLIE of blocking the credit and payout. The song remains a fixture on Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, an album that has spent a decade near the top of the Billboard charts.
1000Milan’s attorneys filed the case, docketed as 2:26-cv-08937, in federal court in Los Angeles and are demanding a jury trial to resolve the dispute.
