Mistah F.A.B. found himself in serious legal trouble this week after Oakland police wrapped up a three-week investigation into illegal fireworks that started with a July 4 Instagram post.

The Bay Area rap legend’s situation highlights the tension between his massive community contributions and the charges he’s now facing, with supporters already rallying to his defense.

Police served search warrants at multiple locations connected to the rapper, recovering two firearms, including one that was stolen, plus numerous boxes of fireworks.

The investigation kicked off when F.A.B. posted video content on Independence Day that caught law enforcement’s attention, though he later tried to distance himself from the fireworks in a follow-up post that same day.

According to NBC Bay Area, the arrest came after authorities completed their three-week probe into the matter.

What makes this situation complex is F.A.B.’s reputation as a genuine community pillar.

He’s known for organizing annual Turkey giveaways, holiday toy events, and school supply drives throughout Oakland.

Mayor Barbara Lee has worked alongside him on children’s reading initiatives, and he’s built something real with his Thug Therapy mental health forums designed specifically for young men of color to discuss emotional struggles and find support.

Mayor Lee declined to comment on the arrest, citing the active investigation status.
