Grand Cayman hotel prices can climb quickly along Seven Mile Beach. Oceanfront resorts line the sand with big pools, beach restaurants, spas and room rates to match. A few minutes away, Camana Bay has become one of the island’s main hubs for restaurants, shopping and a night out.
Then there’s the Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach.
The hotel is on Piper Way, just off the main Seven Mile Beach corridor. It isn’t beachfront. You walk roughly 2 minutes to reach the sand. Once you factor in the location, the complimentary breakfast, the pool, the free parking and the rates, the short walk becomes a very easy trade.
We think it’s the best-value hotel in Grand Cayman right now.
On an island where an oceanfront hotel stay can easily cost considerably more, the Hampton gives you a practical base within walking distance of the beach and about half a mile from Camana Bay.
And you’re still spending your Grand Cayman vacation where you probably want to spend it: on Seven Mile Beach, around Camana Bay, at the island’s restaurants and out exploring.
The Beach Is About a 2-Minute Walk Away
The biggest question is also the simplest one: how much do you care about opening your hotel door directly onto the sand?
At the Hampton, Seven Mile Beach is roughly a 2-minute walk away. You leave Piper Way, cross toward the beach and you’re there. Hilton describes the hotel as being steps from Seven Mile Beach, and the property includes a shuttle along the Seven Mile Beach area.
The resort charge also includes two canopy beach chairs, along with bicycle rentals and shuttle service to beach stops including Bonny Moon Beach.
You don’t have an oceanfront infinity pool outside your room. You have one of the Caribbean’s signature beaches a couple of minutes away and significantly more room in your vacation budget.
If your Cayman trip revolves around swimming, snorkeling, boat trips, restaurants and exploring the island, the equation is compelling.
Why We Think It’s Grand Cayman’s Best Hotel Value
Value in Grand Cayman has become increasingly difficult to find near Seven Mile Beach. The Hampton occupies an unusual position: you’re staying in one of the island’s most desirable areas, yet the room rate can remain closer to what you might expect from a practical city hotel.
The difference becomes even more pronounced once you count what comes with the room.
Hot breakfast is complimentary each day. Wi-Fi is included. Self-parking is complimentary. There’s an outdoor pool, a fitness center and a concierge, and Hilton Honors members get the usual Hampton benefits, including points and digital check-in.
A family renting a car can avoid another daily parking charge. A couple can start with breakfast at the hotel before heading out. If you’re staying several nights, those inclusions add up quickly.
Current Hilton listings have shown the Hampton from around $220 per night including fees, although rates change by date and demand. Compare the final rate for your dates rather than assuming every stay will land near the starting price.
The broader proposition remains strong: Seven Mile Beach location, major-brand reliability and a lower entry price than many of the island’s best-known resorts.
There’s More Here Than You Might Expect From a Hampton
The property has a decidedly Cayman character once you get beyond the Hampton name.
The outdoor pool is surrounded by tropical gardens, with loungers along the deck and Ms. Piper’s, the hotel’s open-air restaurant and lounge, beside it. Ms. Piper’s gives you somewhere to have a cocktail or a meal near the pool when you don’t want to head back out.
The hotel also has a watersports concierge that can arrange experiences including snorkeling and Stingray City excursions, useful if Grand Cayman is your first visit and you want help organizing the island’s essential boat trip.
The guest rooms follow the Hampton formula: straightforward, comfortable and easy to use. You’ll find king rooms and rooms with two beds, plus the practical touches you expect from the brand.
There’s enough at the property to spend a few hours by the pool between outings, while the location puts much of the Seven Mile Beach corridor close by.
Camana Bay Is Just Half a Mile Away
The Hampton’s other advantage is its proximity to Camana Bay, which Hilton lists at approximately 0.5 miles from the hotel.
Camana Bay has become one of the easiest places on Grand Cayman to spend a few hours away from the beach, with restaurants, cafés, shops, a cinema and landscaped pedestrian areas clustered together.
If you’re staying at a large beachfront resort farther up Seven Mile Beach, you may end up taking a taxi or driving whenever you want to leave the property. At the Hampton, a substantial part of the Seven Mile Beach area is already close to you.
You can spend the afternoon on the sand, return to the hotel, then head toward Camana Bay for dinner. You can also use the Hampton as a base for exploring farther west toward West Bay and Cayman Turtle Centre, or head toward George Town.
Hilton lists Owen Roberts International Airport about 4 miles from the hotel, another useful advantage on a shorter Cayman getaway.
A Different Way to Do Seven Mile Beach
A beachfront room has obvious appeal. Open the curtains, see the Caribbean, take the elevator downstairs and walk onto the sand.
You pay for the privilege.
The Hampton offers another version of the Seven Mile Beach trip. Your room is a few minutes inland. The beach is still close enough to visit whenever you want. Your hotel bill can leave considerably more money for the experiences which make Grand Cayman worth the trip.
Maybe you use the difference for a private boat to Stingray City. Maybe it goes toward dinner at one of the island’s better restaurants. Maybe you rent a car and spend a day exploring Rum Point, East End and the quieter side of Grand Cayman.
Or maybe you simply keep the money.
Grand Cayman doesn’t require an elaborate resort itinerary. Seven Mile Beach can fill an afternoon. Snorkeling trips put you over reefs and sandbars. George Town is nearby. West Bay is an easy trip up the island. The Cayman food scene gives you plenty of reasons to leave your hotel.
The Hampton makes sense when your room is primarily where you sleep, shower and regroup between all of it.
What You’re Giving Up
You should know exactly what you aren’t getting.
There’s no private beach directly behind the hotel. You won’t have rows of hotel loungers stretching across the sand outside the lobby. You won’t walk from a beachfront restaurant directly into the Caribbean.
If your idea of a Grand Cayman vacation is spending four straight days inside a full-service oceanfront resort, another property may suit your trip better.
The Hampton is particularly appealing when you already plan to explore.
You get a pool when you want one, breakfast before you head out, a restaurant and lounge at the property, free parking for a rental car and Seven Mile Beach nearby. The hotel’s shuttle can also take you along the Seven Mile Beach corridor to participating beach stops, bars and clubs.
It’s an efficient way to stay in a famously expensive part of the Caribbean.
Who Should Stay Here?
Couples who plan to spend their days around the island will get considerable value from the Hampton. So will families who want to keep hotel costs under control while remaining close to Seven Mile Beach.
It’s also a strong choice for a three- or four-night Cayman getaway, especially if you want to split your trip among the beach, Stingray City, Camana Bay and restaurants around Seven Mile Beach.
Hilton Honors members have another reason to look here. Hampton’s familiar benefits make the property an easy points-and-status option in a destination where major-brand choices can carry premium resort pricing.
Travelers renting a car should pay particular attention. Complimentary self-parking is included, and the hotel gives you a convenient starting point for exploring both directions from the Seven Mile Beach area.
The Hampton is also pet-friendly, subject to the hotel’s fee and weight policies.
Grand Cayman at a More Manageable Price
There are plenty of reasons to spend heavily on a Grand Cayman hotel. Seven Mile Beach has some exceptional luxury resorts, and an oceanfront room can be a significant part of the vacation.
The Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach serves a different traveler.
You’re about 2 minutes from the beach on foot. Camana Bay is roughly half a mile away. You have a tropical garden pool, Ms. Piper’s, complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi and complimentary parking. Hilton currently advertises rates beginning around $220 including fees on select dates, subject to availability.
Most important, staying here still puts your trip squarely in the Seven Mile Beach area.
You’ll probably spend plenty of time on the sand. You’ll probably make the short trip to Camana Bay. You may spend a day on a boat, another exploring the island and several nights working through Grand Cayman’s restaurant scene.
Then you come back to the Hampton, sleep, and do it again.
In a destination where the hotel bill can consume a large part of the vacation budget, a 2-minute walk can be a very good deal.
So What Does It Actually Cost?
I found rates for $230 per night on Google Hotels’ platform right now. That’s a pretty good price in one of the most sophisticated destinations in the Caribbean.
